Popular sprint car driver Geoff Dodge (left) presents a helmet to Molly
Simmons (right), a fourth-grade student in Mrs. Lisa Hillenbrand's class at Fall
Creek Elementary School, 12131 Olio Rd., Fishers, Ind., recently. Dodge, a
business student at IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) who
raced in selected events in the Firestone Indy Lights Series in 2006, chose
Simmons' design out of 161 entries in a helmet-coloring contest sponsored by
Clarian Health's ThinkFirst for Kids, a national injury-prevention program, and
Inquisitive Kids, a magazine for elementary school students and their teachers.
Simmons also received a $50 savings bond for being the winner of the contest,
which was designed to emphasize safety. The bicycle helmet, which features a
brick border in honor of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, was painted by
Michael Jones of Rockstar Paint, who donated his time and supplies to recreate
Simmons' drawing. (Photo by Nena Ray, director of the Indiana chapter of
